Dr. Ann Bybee-Finley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at North Carolina State University (NC State), within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She leads the Agroecology Program and directs the Agroecology Education Farm. Her roles include teaching courses (CS 230 and CS 430) and conducting research on crop diversification practices as climate adaptation strategies.
Education:
- Ph.D., Agroecology with Human Dimensions, Cornell University (2020)
- M.S., Agronomy, Cornell University (2016)
- B.S. and B.A., Biochemistry and International Studies (Development emphasis), West Virginia University (2011)
Research Interests: Her work focuses on intercropping, cover cropping, and multifunctionality of cropping systems. She integrates statistical modeling, field experiments, and human dimensions to evaluate farming practices. Key projects include the Diverse Rotations Improve Ecosystem Services (DRIVES) initiative, which networks long-term crop rotation experiments across North America to assess resilience under climate variability and soil dynamics.
Grants & Projects: Manages the DRIVES Project, analyzing productivity, economic performance, and nutrient composition metrics to evaluate diverse cropping systems' benefits and trade-offs.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Agroecology Education Farm and oversees the Agroecology Program at NC State.
