Anke Vellenga

Anke Vellenga is a Lecturer-Researcher at the Bachelor programme Creative Business at NHL Stenden since 2020. With 15 years of media industry experience, she focuses on bridging practice and education through Design-Based Education. Her work includes supervising students in research, information skills, and media content.

• Education: Master's in Media & Journalism (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Bachelor in Information Services and Management (University of Groningen).

Research interests center on digital citizenship, media innovation, and journalism practices. Current projects include developing a minor on digital citizenship, exploring smartphone etiquette, and enhancing news literacy through co-creation with students and regional newspapers like Leeuwarder Courant. She previously worked at RTL Nieuws, Algemeen Dagblad, NOS, and ANP, specializing in data/investigative journalism.

Future initiatives involve expanding the Digital Citizenship Roadmap and fostering student collaboration on media solutions.
