Prof. Anke-Susanne Müller is a physicist at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where she serves as Director of the Institute for Accelerator Physics and Technology (IBPT) and Spokesperson for the Accelerator Technology Platform (ATP). Her work focuses on advancing ultra-compact, energy-efficient particle accelerators with applications in fundamental science, medicine, and industry. Müller leads a multidisciplinary collaboration of 17 KIT professors and over 200 researchers from 14 institutes, integrating expertise in physics, artificial intelligence, cryogenic engineering, and robotics.
Her research has significant implications for medical diagnostics, tumor therapy, material refinement, and astrophysics. She co-founded the Committee for Accelerator Physics in Germany and drives partnerships with institutions like CERN, Heidelberg University Hospital, and the German Cancer Research Center. Müller was awarded the 2022 Baden-Württemberg State Research Prize for her contributions to accelerator technology.
The ATP platform under her leadership develops next-generation accelerators such as the FLUTE research accelerator and KARA test facility, while initiatives like KITTEN explore grid stability and energy efficiency in large research infrastructures.
