Anke Piekut

Anke Piekut serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Design, Media and Educational Science at the University of Southern Denmark. Her academic career is deeply rooted in the study of educational practices, particularly within the Danish upper secondary school system, where she investigates the interplay between narrative theory, genre competences, and educational policy implementation.

Her primary research areas encompass:

Her work critically examines how national policies on immigration and integration are experienced at the school level, and she explores strategies for fostering inclusive learning environments. A recurring theme is the gap between policy intentions and classroom realities.

Dr. Piekut has secured and contributed to multiple research grants, including the EU Horizon 2020 project MiCREATE (2019-2022) and several current projects such as VETPREP (2025-2027) addressing vocational education participation, and NarratiVET (2025-2027) on bridging structures and voices in vocational education. She also actively supervises in the Master in Gymnasiepædagogik program.

She is a key member of interdisciplinary research teams tackling contemporary educational challenges, particularly those related to migration, inclusion, and equity in Danish secondary schools.
