Anke Huckriede

Prof. Anke Huckriede is a Professor of Vaccinology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen. She leads research on rational vaccine design, focusing on influenza vaccines and improving immune responses through understanding pre-existing immunity, vaccine composition, and host factors. Her work employs novel in vitro techniques. She holds roles including Board Member of the NWO Division Vaccines and Advisory Board Member at Intravacc.

Education: Studied Cell Biology at the University of Bielefeld (PhD 1990). Postdoc at University of Groningen, initially in mitochondrial diseases, then vaccine development. Appointed to her current professorship in 2011.

Research Interests: Vaccinology, influenza vaccines, immunogenicity, adjuvants, and respiratory virus models. Her lab explores vaccine delivery forms and host-specific immune response factors.

Awards: Recipient of the INNO4VAC award (2021), recognized as a board member nominee by the International Society for Vaccines and Intravacc.

Advising & Grants: Supervised 17 works, member of ZonMW Grant Committee. Active in national/international consortia as coordinator or WP leader.

Labs/Teams: Affiliated with Microbes in Health and Disease (MHD) and Translational Immunology Groningen (TRIGR) groups.
