Anke Franz

Dr Anke Franz serves as a Senior Lecturer and Head of Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University within the School of Psychology and Life Sciences. She joined the institution in January 2010 and assumed the joint psychology lead role in September 2022, while also holding the position of Athena Swan lead dedicated to fostering equitable environments for staff and students.

Her research focuses on critical psychology frameworks, qualitative methodologies, and mixed methods approaches, emphasizing inclusive academic practices and community support systems within psychological sciences. This work directly informs her commitment to dismantling structural barriers in higher education.

As Athena Swan lead, she spearheads gender equality initiatives across the School of Psychology and Life Sciences, implementing evidence-based strategies to advance diversity in academic careers and student experiences through institutional policy reform and cultural change programs.
