Anju Philip serves as an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream at the University of Waterloo, cross-appointed between the Psychology Department and the Arts and Business Program (ARBUS) within the Faculty of Arts. She teaches Practical Business Skills (ARBUS 300), Strategy & Program Integration (ARBUS 400), and Applied Topics in Psychology (PSYCH 470), alongside courses in Human Resource Management, Leadership, and Business Communications.
Her educational background includes a B-Tech from Mahatma Gandhi University, an MBA from Missouri State University, and a PhD from the University of Guelph. This foundation supports her dual expertise in technical, business, and psychological domains.
Dr. Philip's research centers on Organizational Behaviour and Leadership, with specialized focus on work-life balance dynamics among racialized employees—particularly South Asian women. She actively investigates how instructor kindness and care influence student learning outcomes and course satisfaction, bridging educational psychology with workplace inclusion practices. Her work emphasizes creating compassionate professional environments through evidence-based teaching methodologies.
Her 2022 publication 'Black Lives Matter: True commitment or tokenism?' analyzes corporate diversity initiatives through the lens of authentic versus performative allyship. This research sits at the intersection of business ethics, social justice, and organizational behavior, revealing patterns in how institutions respond to racial equity movements while highlighting gaps between symbolic gestures and systemic change.
