Dr. Anja Herrmann serves as a Lecturer for special tasks in the Department of History within the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology at the University of Bielefeld. Dr. Herrmann specializes in Historical Visual Studies and Art History, with research interests spanning Visual Culture, Gender Studies, Contemporary Art, and Fat Studies. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary visual culture issues, particularly through her involvement in the DFG network 'Fat Studies - Doing, Becoming and Being Fat' since 2018.

As an academic advisor, Dr. Herrmann oversees the Visual and Art History programs and serves on the Student Advisory Service. She is actively involved in curriculum development as module responsible for key courses including the Bachelor's thesis, Main Module Modern Visual and Art History, Module Theories and Methods of Visual and Art History, Module Visual Orientation Knowledge, and Image and art historical practice.
Dr. Herrmann also contributes to institutional governance as a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission at the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology and participates in BiSEd (the teaching development initiative) for her faculty.
