Alexey Tikhomirov

Dr. Alexey Tikhomirov is a researcher in the Department of History at the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology, University of Bielefeld. His research focuses on cultural history of Eastern Europe, particularly Russia and the Soviet Union, Sovietization of Central and Eastern Europe post-WWII, interconnected history of the Eastern Bloc and Cold War, symbolic politics and leader cults, iconoclasm and violence, history of emotions and trust/distrust, history of subjectivity, and pre-modern foundations of modern states. He is a member of the Global and Interconnected History research group and affiliated with BiSEd (Bielefeld Center for Eastern European Studies), where he contributes to interconnected history research and symbolic politics analysis.
