Prof. Anitha Ethirajan is a Full Professor and Head of the NSI research group at Hasselt University, Belgium. She leads interdisciplinary research in nanobiophysics and soft matter interfaces, focusing on nanomaterials development for biomedical applications. With a PhD from Ulm University, Germany, she has held postdoctoral positions at Max-Planck Institute and established her independent research group through an FWO fellowship.
Her research explores nanomaterials synthesis, nano-bio interfaces, molecularly imprinted polymer sensors, and hybrid systems for drug delivery. Recent work emphasizes sustainable biopolymer composites and responsive nanocarriers. She coordinates the Master's program in Biomedical Sciences with a specialization in Bioelectronics and Nanotechnology.
Prof. Ethirajan's publications demonstrate consistent focus on functional nanomaterials, with recent trends in:
- Stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems
- Biodegradable polymer composites
- Antimicrobial nanomaterials
- Advanced characterization techniques
- Sustainable material processing
She mentors PhD students and leads laboratory teams developing innovative approaches to nanomaterial design and application.
