Anita Sarma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University, part of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science within the College of Engineering. She previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and was a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science.
Her research focuses on the intersection of software engineering and computer-supported cooperative work, particularly on coordination mechanisms in distributed software development environments. She investigates how interdependencies among work artifacts, design erosion, and organizational culture impact team coordination, and develops solutions for generating, distributing, and presenting critical coordination information.
Anita is actively engaged in the software engineering research community, regularly serving on program committees for premier conferences including ICSE, ASE, and ICGSE. She has held leadership roles such as co-chair of the ICSE 2014 formal demonstration track and is a reviewer for high-impact journals such as IEEE TSE, ACM TOSEM, and ACM TOCHI. Her work contributes to improving collaboration in globally distributed software projects.
She holds a Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.
