Tingting Yu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on software engineering, software testing, AI-driven methodologies, and domain-specific applications in bioinformatics and cyber-physical systems. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2014 and 2010), advised by Dr. Gregg Rothermel and Dr. Witawas Srisa-an.
Dr. Yu’s work emphasizes empirical analysis, automated testing frameworks, and leveraging AI to enhance software quality. She has authored over 60 publications in top venues like IEEE TSE, ACM TOSEM, ICSE, and ISSTA. Her contributions include tools like RecDroid for Android bug reproduction and Dinodroid using deep reinforcement learning for testing.
- Awards: ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award (2016), NSF CAREER Award (2017)
- Service: Editorial board member of Empirical Software Engineering Journal; roles in ICSE, ASE, and ISSTA organizing committees
Her research bridges theoretical advancements with practical applications, particularly in concurrency bug prediction, mobile app testing, and smart contract auditing through hybrid symbolic execution and LLMs. She actively contributes to software engineering for societal impact, including work on configuration profiling and cloud management stack analysis.
