Anita Newstead is a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care, School of Nursing since July 2022. She is a registered adult and children's nurse, advanced nurse practitioner, and independent prescriber with extensive clinical experience primarily in paediatrics, including specialisation in paediatric nephro-urology and children's diabetes.

Anita's research centers on protective factors contributing to positive health and quality of life outcomes for children with chronic illness, particularly type 1 diabetes as explored in her master's dissertation. She investigates coping mechanisms of children and families facing chronic conditions and evaluates nursing interventions that enhance resilience and health outcomes through community-based and clinical approaches.
Anita provides research supervision for nursing students and has extensive experience in clinical education across multiple settings. She has served as a practice educator, trained healthcare professionals in diabetes management, and functions as a personal tutor and link lecturer within ARU's pre-registration nursing curriculum. Her educational background informs her approach to developing junior colleagues and mentoring future nurses through both academic and practical training frameworks.
