Anisoara Calinescu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. She holds fellowships at Reuben College (as an Official Fellow in AI & Machine Learning) and the Alan Turing Institute (as a Turing Fellow). She is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for New Economic Thinking. Her research focuses on complex networked systems, agent-based modelling, digital twins, and the valuation of information in contexts like financial markets and supply chains.
- Education & Career: Joined Oxford's Computing Laboratory (now Department of Computer Science) in 2002; previously a Research Assistant in the Oxford Manufacturing Research Group (1996–2002).
Research Interests: She explores systems-level dynamics in complex environments, including:
- Agent-based models for financial markets and supply chains
- Complexity metrics for networked systems
- Control and prediction mechanisms for dynamic systems
- Applications of digital twins in decision-making
Awards & Roles:
- Turing Fellow (Alan Turing Institute, since 2021)
- Senior Research Fellow (Institute for New Economic Thinking)
- Official College Fellow (Reuben College)
Advising & Collaborations: Supervised PhD students including Tatiana Botskina and Sascha Frey, and mentored researchers like Hao Zhou. Her work intersects computer science, economics, and engineering.
Labs & Networks: Engaged with the Alan Turing Institute and the Institute for New Economic Thinking, contributing to interdisciplinary projects in AI-driven systems analysis.
