Dr. Anh Tran serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, and as an Associate Research Officer in Infectious Diseases at the Human Health Therapeutics program of the National Research Council Canada (NRC).
She earned her PhD in molecular virology from the University of Manitoba, followed by post-doctoral training at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and the University of Toronto, where she developed expertise in viral immunity and small animal models of infection.
Her research program centers on respiratory viruses with particular emphasis on influenza and coronavirus pathogens. Since joining the NRC in 2019, Dr. Tran has established herself as a leading researcher in viral immunology and vaccine development, currently serving as Lead Scientist for the NRC's high biocontainment level-3 (CL-3) facility where critical pathogen research occurs under stringent safety protocols.
Dr. Tran's scientific contributions have been recognized with multiple prestigious awards including the NRC's Rising Star Award, President's Award, HHT Excellence Teams Award, and NRC Instant Award for Research Excellence in 2022 and 2024.

She actively contributes to scientific governance as an Editorial Board member for Scientific Reports and serves on the NRC Director General's Research Excellence Advisory Committee, as alternate Chair to Sussex COSH, and as interim Chair on the Ottawa Biosafety Committee, demonstrating leadership in research ethics and safety standards.
