Angèle H.M.E. Reinders is an Associate Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, with a part-time appointment since 2018. She leads the Design of Sustainable Energy Systems (D-SES) chair, focusing on integrating sustainable energy technologies into products, buildings, and local infrastructures. Her research emphasizes solar energy optimization, photovoltaic innovation, and energy storage solutions. Reinders holds a doctoral degree in Chemistry from Utrecht University and has held roles at institutions like the University of Twente (Associate Professor since 2002) and TU Delft (Full Professor of Energy Efficient Design, 2010–2017). She directed Solliance (2023–2024) and contributed to global projects like the IEEE PVSC conference and the International Energy Agency’s PVPS program. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable clean energy, industry innovation, and climate action.
Her research interests span photovoltaic systems, sustainable energy design, and renewable integration. Notable publications include Photovoltaic Solar Energy: From Fundamentals to Applications (2024) and The Power of Design (2012). Awards include the 2014 PVSC Napkin Award. Reinders has supervised 28 students and led projects such as the Luminescent Solar Concentrator Photovoltaics (LSC PV) initiative and the CESEPS smart grid project. Collaborations include work in Indonesia, Canada, and Australia, emphasizing global energy challenges.
Her academic contributions extend to editorial roles at the Journal of Photovoltaics and involvement in international PV policy tasks. Current research explores solar energy in urban environments, circular economy applications, and PV-driven mobility solutions.
