Angus M. Powers is a Professor of Glass Sculpture/Dimensional Studies at Alfred University's School of Art and Design. He leads the Glass Area at the New York State College of Ceramics. His work merges glass, light, technology, and craft in experimental installations. Powers holds an MFA from Tyler School of Art (2002) and a BFA from Alfred University (2000).
Research focuses on sustainable glass techniques and interdisciplinary collaborations. Notable projects include the permanent 'Quantum' installation (2015) and the Roman furnace revival (2007). Awards include four Excellence in Teaching Awards and the Creative Glass Center fellowship (2003).
Key engagements: juror for New Glass Review #36 (2014), international workshops in Germany/Belgium, and public art commissions like the Alfred Almond Central School library lighting (2015). Advises student-run initiatives Moka-Joka café and Repo-Depo recycling program. Collaborates across disciplines with engineering and community programs.
