Angma Jhala is a Professor of History at Bentley University. Her research and teaching focus on modern South Asian history, colonialism, and cultural studies. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and an A.B. from Harvard University.

Her research spans colonial and twentieth-century South Asia, with expertise in law, gender, religion, and material culture. Her publications include books on indigeneity, royal aesthetics, and courtly women.

She contributed to the Museum of Fine Art Houston's 2018 exhibition Peacock in the Desert, editing its accompanying essay collection. Her work has been published in leading journals like Modern Asian Studies and South Asian History and Culture.
