Angie Bowman

Dr. Angie Bowman serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance within Middle Tennessee State University's College of Behavioral and Health Sciences. Her academic appointments include teaching graduate courses in Social Epidemiology, Survey Methodology, Applied Biostatistics, and Advanced Data Analysis, alongside undergraduate instruction in Bioethical Issues and Biostatistics.

Her educational background comprises a PhD in Human Performance (Public Health) and MA in Quantitative Psychology from MTSU, and a BA in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University. Research interests center on psychometric validation of patient-reported outcomes, social determinants of health modeling, and mental health literacy programming to reduce stigma. Her work combines biostatistics and psychometrics to analyze how socioeconomic factors influence healthcare access and disease progression.

Dr. Bowman's publication portfolio reveals strong emphasis on rare disease populations (particularly mast cell disorders) and mental health stigma reduction. Her research demonstrates consistent application of advanced statistical modeling to health disparities, with significant contributions to understanding opioid stigma in rural communities and pandemic impacts on vulnerable patient groups.
