Angelique Nevarez Maes is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at The University of Texas at El Paso. She has also served as an Instructor of Record at Texas A&M University and Wiley College, teaching courses such as Introduction to Sociology, Criminology, and Social Stratification.

Research Interests: Focus on crime, law, deviance, social psychology, and resilience, with an emphasis on how paternal incarceration impacts mentorship during emerging adulthood, moderated by race and gender. Additional work explores student opinions on active learning and work-life balance in academia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
