Angela Preston is an Associate Professor of English at Bethel University, where she has been teaching since 2006. She holds a B.A. in Drama from Florida State University (1987) and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College (2001). Her research and creative work focus on poetry, choreopoems, and multicultural literature, with a strong emphasis on African American literary traditions.
Her publications include the poetry collection Singing the Bones Together and contributions to journals such as Where One Ends Another Begins: 150 Years of Minnesota Poetry, Beyond the Frontier: African American Poetry for the 21st Century, and the textbook A Multicultural Reader, Collection One: Many Voices Literature Series. Her choreopoem Root Woman premiered at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Theater in Evanston, Illinois.
Preston’s creative work bridges literary and theatrical mediums, reflecting her interdisciplinary background in drama and creative writing. She is actively engaged in fostering diverse voices in literature through her teaching and publications.
