Perone's research examines structural barriers in aging services through an intersectional lens, with particular focus on religious exemptions in long-term care, multigenerational advocacy, and climate-resilient caregiving models. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates legal analysis, community-based participatory research, and policy advocacy to address systemic inequities affecting LGBTQ+ elders. Current projects explore conflicting rights frameworks in care facilities and develop equitable aging frameworks for hypermarginalized populations.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals consistent focus on LGBTQ+ aging disparities, with growing emphasis on climate-related caregiving disruptions and multigenerational solutions. Her work increasingly examines organizational dynamics in long-term care while maintaining strong community engagement through co-produced research with aging populations.
Key recognitions include:
- 2024 Gerontological Society of America Rising Star Award
- 2023 Mather Institute Bronze Award for Innovative Research on Aging
- 2022 Jack Rothman Award Honorable Mention
