Dr. Angela Kohlhaas is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Data Science at Loras College. She holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame (2010), with a focus on commutative algebra. Her teaching emphasizes innovative methods for visualizing abstract mathematical concepts, often using tactile tools like Play-Doh in her classes.

Her research interests include undergraduate mathematics education, particularly through interdisciplinary projects such as the mathematics of origami and symmetries in Sudoku puzzles. She developed a unique course exploring the intersection of mathematics with musical composition and perspective art.
Dr. Kohlhaas actively engages students in research projects and has contributed to pedagogical innovations in STEM education. Outside academia, she enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, piano, and culinary experimentation with spicy dishes.
