Angela Heeler

Angela Heeler is a Postgraduate Researcher at the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Cyber Security at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her work bridges information security and criminology to address gaps in understanding the long-term impacts of cybercrime on small businesses.

• Education: BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science (Royal Holloway, University of London), MSc in Information Security with Year in Industry (Royal Holloway, University of London)

Her research focuses on cybercrime victimization, particularly the short-, medium-, and long-term journeys of small businesses recovering from online crime. By co-producing knowledge with victims, she challenges existing studies that overlook post-incident recovery processes.

Angela's recent publication, Applying Social Networks to Snowball Sampling (2024), extends qualitative methodologies to study hard-to-reach populations. This work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by improving cyber resilience strategies for SMEs.
