Angela Fonceca

Dr. Angela Fonceca is an Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Western Australia, affiliated with the Microbiology and Immunology department. Her research focuses on respiratory viral infections, particularly Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and their interactions with host immune systems. She leads projects investigating biofilm disruption therapies, viral persistence mechanisms, and phage therapy applications in cystic fibrosis.

Her research interests span airway immunology, infectious disease dynamics, and translational therapies targeting respiratory pathogens. Key areas include RSV persistence in dendritic cells, viral-host interactions, and biofilm-related respiratory infections. Dr. Fonceca has authored over 12 peer-reviewed publications, with notable contributions on RSV transmission in daycare settings and pre-clinical models for biofilm-induced diseases.
