Daniel Laucirica is an Honorary Research Associate at The University of Western Australia (UWA), affiliated with the UWA Medical School and UWA Centre for Child Health Research. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being. He has a Doctoral Thesis (2022) on neutrophil exocytosis in cystic fibrosis airways and has published extensively on bacteriophage therapy, cystic fibrosis, and respiratory infections.
His research focuses on bacteriophage applications, neutrophil biology, and antimicrobial resistance, with recent work on phage therapy for Burkholderia cepacia infections and aerosolized phage delivery. He is an investigator on grants including 'Developing probiotics to prevent childhood pneumonia' (2024-2026) and 'Assessing anti-inflammatory capacity of phage therapy' (2023-2025).
Laucirica collaborates on projects addressing pediatric respiratory health and has led research on phage stability in liquid formulations. His work bridges microbiology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine, with a focus on translational therapies for chronic airway diseases.
