Angela E. Reif, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the School of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, University of Akron. Her research focuses on cognition and cognitive rehabilitation, cognitive deficits in Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological disorders, acoustic characteristics of infant cry, neurogenic dysfluency, motor speech disorders, and neuroscience in communication sciences and disorders. She actively engages in clinical and academic roles, including teaching courses such as Anatomy & Physiology of Speech, Cognitive Communicative Issues, and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders.
Dr. Reif has presented extensively at national and international conferences, including the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Conference on Motor Speech. Her work spans clinical implications of self-regulatory depletion in Parkinson’s Disease, speech production under medication, and interdisciplinary research on cognitive and motor speech challenges. She has also contributed to community education through presentations at Parkinson’s Disease support groups and veteran-focused events.
Her publications emphasize linguistic features of dysfluencies in Parkinson’s Disease, voice handicap symptoms, and acoustic analysis of speech in neurological conditions. Dr. Reif’s teaching and clinical supervision roles further highlight her commitment to advancing communication sciences and disorders through education and patient care.
