Alison Lemke is a Visiting Assistant Professor and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Iowa. She holds an MA in Speech-Language Pathology and an MPA, and is a certified speech-language pathologist (CCC-SLP). Her career includes extensive clinical work in medical settings, roles as a clinical educator, and leadership as Director of M.A. SLP Clinical Education at the University of Colorado Boulder. She returned to the University of Iowa in 2023.
Her research focuses on adult neurogenic communication disorders, particularly aphasia and cognitive-communication challenges, alongside best practices for clinical education and supervision. She has taught courses such as Neurogenic Disorders of Language, Acquired Cognitive Communication Disorders, and Aphasia. Lemke is deeply involved in professional organizations, serving as past president of the Iowa Speech-Language-Hearing Association, a member of state licensure boards, and a leader in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
