Angela Durey

Dr. Angela Durey is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Population and Global Health, The University of Western Australia. She is an anthropologist and qualitative researcher specializing in oral health disparities among marginalized populations, particularly focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Her work bridges anthropology, sociology, and health services research to address systemic inequalities in healthcare access and outcomes.

Her research explores upstream factors contributing to oral health inequalities, including cultural, social, and structural barriers. She employs qualitative methodologies to design culturally appropriate interventions, such as educational resources and community-led programs. Recent projects focus on frailty in older adults, dental volunteering in remote communities, and cross-cultural care frameworks.
