Her research centers on violence against women, particularly incarcerated battered women who killed abusive partners, and innovative pedagogical approaches including service-learning and social entrepreneurship. She examines power dynamics in domestic violence through feminist frameworks while developing community-based curricula that connect classroom theory to real-world social issues, notably through partnerships with Family Abuse Services of Alamance County.
Her publication trends reveal sustained focus on gender-based violence (47% of recent works), service-learning pedagogy (33%), and social entrepreneurship (20%), with increasing interdisciplinary collaboration since 2008. Methodologically, she combines qualitative narrative analysis with community-based action research.
