Angela C. B. Trude is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She holds a PhD in Human Nutrition from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research focuses on systemic factors contributing to chronic diseases, with emphasis on community-based interventions in low-resource settings, food policy equity, and early-life health determinants. She leads NIH-funded trials and evaluates USDA SNAP online grocery programs.
Education: PhD in Human Nutrition (Johns Hopkins University), Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatrics at University of Maryland School of Medicine. She has secured grants from NIH, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and American Heart Association.
Research Interests:
- Food access policies for marginalized populations
- Impact of sleep patterns on obesity in adolescent girls
- Intervention efficacy in childcare and school settings
- Online grocery purchasing behaviors during crises
- Cross-cultural dietary patterns and chronic disease
Recent work highlights pandemic-era food procurement challenges, longitudinal sleep studies, and equity-focused grocery pilot programs. Her articles analyze food security metrics, SNAP participant barriers, and culturally-tailored nutrition strategies.
Funding: Current PI of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation project evaluating USDA SNAP online grocery pilots. Previously held AHA postdoctoral fellowship analyzing sleep-weight associations in low-income Black girls.
