Angela Bratton is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Augusta University’s Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Her work spans gender, sexuality, reproduction, feminist ethnography, identity/representation, education, socialization, and cultural issues in Africa, food, and folklore.
Education:
- PhD in Anthropology, Indiana University Bloomington (2004)
- MA in Anthropology, Indiana University Bloomington (2000)
- BA in Anthropology and Psychology, University of Louisville (1997)
Her research explores cross-cultural dynamics of migration, focusing on gendered dimensions of refugee experiences, food as cultural expression, and identity formation in African contexts. Recent publications include studies on adolescent health behaviors and ethnographic analyses of Ghanaian educational systems.

Bratton serves as a moderator for the department’s Facebook page, faculty advisor for the Anthropology Student Union, and committee member for the Qualitative Research Lab. She has organized Anthropology Day events and reviewed NSF grant proposals since 2012.
