Angela Bonacasa is an Instructor in the Theatre Department at the University of Maine's School of Performing Arts. Based in Castine, ME, she is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, specializing in stage combat instruction and fight direction. Her teaching experience spans institutions including the University of Maine, Roosevelt University, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, alongside independent workshops.
As a choreographer, her work includes productions like Romeo and Juliet, Othello, and Macbeth, staged across venues such as Penobscot Theatre Company and Camden Shakespeare Festival. She serves as Artistic Director of True North Theatre in Orono, directing plays like The Lion in Winter and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Her career also encompasses directing for over 20 productions, including Steel Magnolias and A Christmas Carol.
Bonacasa’s expertise bridges academic instruction, professional theatre production, and community engagement through her roles in education and artistic leadership.
