D Granke is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University of Maine's School of Performing Arts. Their expertise spans directing, fight direction, intimacy direction, and theatre movement. Current roles include directing Unto These Hills in its 72nd season.
Education:
- BFA from the University of Michigan
- MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University
Research/Practice: Specializes in theatrical combat and intimacy direction, certified by the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) and Intimacy Directors International (IDI). Extensive credits in classical and contemporary theatre productions, including Macbeth, Richard III, Vietgone, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Teaches combat and intimacy nationally, including at National Stage Combat Workshops.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with institutions like Asolo Repertory Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, and Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. Active in interdisciplinary theatre projects blending movement and narrative innovation.
