Her teaching emphasizes empirical rigor, understanding human behavior through social context, and contrasting social psychological frameworks with alternative perspectives.
- B.A., Pomona College
- M.A., University of Kansas
- Ph.D., University of Kansas
Her research investigates two interconnected domains: (1) the dynamics of prejudice and intergroup relations, particularly how unrecognized prejudice can drive threat perception toward marginalized groups, and (2) friendship formation, focusing on the tension between similarity and diversity in relationships. She explores how positive diversity beliefs may facilitate cross-group friendships but notes that political disagreement remains a barrier to cooperation.
She is currently teaching Research Methods in Social Psychology (PSYC310R), which covers attitudes, persuasion, interpersonal attraction, stereotyping, aggression, and prosocial behavior through experimental projects.
Scientific Awards:
- Fellow of the Society for Experimental Social Psychology
She actively contributes to the Society for Personality and Social Psychology and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, integrating her research into broader academic and societal contexts.
