Angel S. Byrd

Dr. Angel S. Byrd is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Howard University College of Medicine and serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her academic and clinical work centers on understanding skin diseases in populations of color, particularly focusing on immunopathological mechanisms in African American patients.

Dr. Byrd’s research interests lie at the intersection of dermatology, immunology, and health equity. She investigates the role of neutrophils and innate immunity in the pathogenesis of Hidradenitis suppurativa, aiming to uncover systemic immune dysregulation in skin of color diseases.
