Ang Davies is a Professor of Clinical Bioinformatics and Healthcare Science Education at the University of Manchester. She leads the Division of Informatics, Imaging & Data Sciences and serves as Academic Lead for Digital Learning in the Office of the President and Vice Chancellor. Her roles include Programme Director for the PG Certificate in Clinical Bioinformatics and leadership in online education initiatives. She contributed to creating the Clinical Bioinformatician profession and developed NHS-critical genomic medicine curricula.
Education: BSc Biochemistry (University of Bath, 1998), PhD in Molecular Biology (University of Warwick, 2003), postdoctoral research at AstraZeneca and Renovo Biotech.
Research: Focuses on blockchain for genomic data sharing, free software like VariantValidator, and digital health equity. Supervised 17 MSc projects on topics like variant interpretation and exome pipelines.
Awards: Advance HE Collaborative Award (2018), Faculty Team Teaching Award (2018).
