Anette Eleonora Gunnæs is a Professor at the Department of Solid-state Physics and Quantum Technology, University of Oslo. She holds leadership roles, including Group/Section leader of Structure Physics since 2013. Her academic journey includes a Dr. Scient degree in Physics from UiO (1998), followed by postdoctoral and research fellow positions at UiO and the University of Surrey, UK. Her research focuses on advanced materials characterization using electron diffraction and crystallography, with applications in energy-related inorganic materials and nanostructured systems.
Her work spans synthesis, microstructural analysis, and property evaluation of complex alloys (e.g., high-entropy alloys, Heusler compounds), functional oxides, and catalytic materials. Recent studies emphasize additive manufacturing processes, corrosion mechanisms, and thermoelectric material development. Collaborations often involve interdisciplinary teams addressing energy challenges and nanomaterials.
Key projects include advanced thermoelectric materials (e.g., Allotherm), elastocaloric cooling (Cool'em), and structural analysis of novel materials for energy applications. Her contributions to material science are reflected in over 50 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on structural-property relationships, phase transitions, and nanoscale characterization.
