Anette Bringedal Houge is a Researcher at the Institute of Health and Society within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo (UiO), currently serving as a postdoctoral researcher in the #EvidentlyRape consortium funded by UiO LifeScience.
Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Criminology from the University of Oslo (2017), with doctoral research examining conflict-related sexual violence through the lens of institutional responses, legal knowledge construction, and the juridification of political discourse within international criminal justice frameworks.
Houge's scholarly focus centers on the societal penetration of judicial paradigms in addressing violent harms, particularly analyzing how criminal justice mechanisms dominate responses to complex social problems like sexual violence in conflict zones. Key research dimensions include:
- Theoretical intersections of law, politics, and social knowledge
- Epistemic community dynamics in international criminal justice
- Political maneuverability in juridified systems
- Conflict-related sexual violence institutional responses
- Narrative construction of harm in legal contexts
- Power structures in knowledge production
Prior to her UiO appointment, she held leadership as Head of Analyses at the Norwegian Red Cross, bringing practical humanitarian experience to her academic work. Her research is institutionally anchored in the #EvidentlyRape consortium while maintaining strong ties to UiO's Faculty of Medicine infrastructure.
Houge's publications appear in leading interdisciplinary journals including Aggression and Violent Behavior, Law and Society Review, and British Journal of Criminology, reflecting her cross-disciplinary impact across criminology, legal sociology, and international justice studies.
