Andy Stott

Professor Andy Stott serves as the first Head of Popular Music at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where he also directs the RNCM Session Orchestra. Additionally, he is the founding CEO of Northern Quarter Records, demonstrating leadership across academic and industry contexts within the music sector.

With a career spanning music education, performance, and musical direction, Professor Stott has led music departments at various prestigious institutions while also serving as an examiner internationally and mentoring at rock and pop festivals. His academic recognition includes becoming a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2015 and receiving four RNCM Student-Led Teaching Awards.

His work bridges academic instruction with professional music industry experience, creating valuable pathways for students entering the music profession.
