Andy Rapps is an Associate Lecturer in Music (Musical Theatre) at Performers College (Essex) and holds a role as Principal Lecturer – Singing at the University of Chichester Conservatoire. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and has a prominent career in London's West End as a musical director, vocal coach, and pianist.
His theatre credits include Associate Musical Director roles for major productions such as Bend It Like Beckham, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Sister Act, and Les Misérables. He has also contributed to iconic shows like The Sound of Music, We Will Rock You, and Sunny Afternoon. Notably, he composed two musicals – Quasimodo and Gulliver’s Travels – both performed at Cornwall’s Minack Theatre and further developed through workshops at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of Chichester.
Rapps’ work spans over 30 West End productions including Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Mamma Mia, Shrek, and Billy Elliot. His expertise bridges classical training with contemporary musical theatre production, emphasizing vocal performance and ensemble direction.
