Andy Mallory is a part-time Lecturer of Philosophy at the University of Maine, located at 5776 The Maples in Orono, Maine. He teaches courses such as PHI 102: Introduction to Philosophy and PHI 104: Existentialism and Literature in the Fall 2024 semester. His office hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6 PM, or by appointment.
Education:
- M.A. in Intellectual History, University of Maine
- B.A. in Philosophy and History, University of Maine
Research Interests: Mallory specializes in 19th and 20th century continental philosophy, with a focus on Nietzsche and Heidegger. His primary areas of study include existentialism, phenomenology, philosophy of history, and critical pedagogy. He investigates the application of phenomenological methods to radical pedagogical projects and has extensive teaching experience across disciplines, including literature, mathematics, history, and writing both within and beyond the university setting. Additionally, he is a poet and fiction writer, having published two poetry chapbooks and individual literary works.
