Andy Kin On Wong is an Assistant Professor in Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and an Assistant Scientist at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute (TGHRI). He holds an adjunct position as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. His research focuses on musculoskeletal health, particularly osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and the interplay between bone, muscle, and cartilage. Dr. Wong leads the Canadian Multi-Centre Osteoporosis Bone Quality Study (CaMos BQS) and collaborates on large-scale studies like the Canadian Health Measures Survey. He specializes in advanced imaging techniques (e.g., HR-pQCT, MRI) and statistical methods, including machine learning and causal inference. His work aims to improve diagnostic tools and treatment strategies for musculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on postmenopausal populations. Current projects include developing imaging-based fracture risk assessment tools and investigating mechanisms of osteochondral remodeling. Dr. Wong also explores telehealth impacts on musculoskeletal care during the pandemic.
He is actively involved in training students and researchers, offering joint PhD opportunities with the University of Melbourne. His research has been published in journals like Bone, Journal of Clinical Densitometry, and Osteoarthritis and Cartilage.
