Andy Hines

Dr. Andy Hines is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the University of Houston's Graduate Program in Foresight, blending academic leadership with over three decades of experience as an organizational, consulting, and academic futurist. He coordinates the Foresight program and teaches courses such as Forecasting for Technology Entrepreneurship and Strategic Foresight.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Foresight, Leeds Metropolitan University (2012)
• M.S. in Futures Studies, University of Houston-Clear Lake (1990)
• B.A. in History/Political Science, Salem State College (1987)

Research Interests: Foresight methodologies, post-capitalist futures, organizational futurism, consumer behavior shifts, and values-driven strategic planning. He co-founded the Association of Professional Futurists and authored influential works like ConsumerShift and Imagining After Capitalism.

Awards & Recognition: Emerald Literati Awards (2003, 2007), Fulbright Fellowship (2019), and Outstanding Faculty Awards from California POST (2013, 2014). His work spans academia, corporate consulting (Dow Chemical, Kellogg Company), and public speaking on futures topics.

Labs/Teams: Leads the Foresight program's Strategic Foresight Learning and Action Network (SF-LAN), collaborates with the Journal of Futures Studies editorial board, and maintains his consulting firm, Hinesight.
