Dr. Andy Hilkens serves as a Newton International Fellow and Research Fellow of Wolfson College at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. His research bridges Syriac Orthodox and Armenian Christian traditions, focusing on interfaith polemics, bilingualism, and textual transmission in the Levant during the 11th-12th centuries.

Current projects involve editing John bar Andreas’ anti-Armenian treatise, translating key Syriac-Armenian correspondence, and advancing Syro-Armenian scholarly infrastructure through co-editorship of the Eastern Christian Cultures in Contact series.
Scientific awards include the prestigious Newton International Fellowship. He co-hosts the TeTra Text and Transmission Joint Research Seminar, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue on Late Antique textual cultures.
