Andy Erickson, PhD, PE, is a Research Manager at the University of Minnesota's St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, part of the College of Science and Engineering. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota (2017), an MS from the same institution (2005), and a BS from Michigan Technological University (2002). His work focuses on stormwater treatment, urban water quality, and innovative technologies like the Iron-Enhanced Sand Filter.
- Chair of the ASTM International E64 Committee on Stormwater Control Measures
- Chair of the University of Minnesota Water Council
- Member of multiple university committees and programs, including the Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering Graduate Faculty
Research interests include urban and agricultural watershed management, stormwater assessment, and climate change adaptation. Erickson has authored a handbook on stormwater practices and leads the Minnesota Stormwater Seminar Series. He has secured grants for projects like the Upper Mississippi River Water Availability Assessment and studies on vegetation management near roads.
Notable achievements include over 240 presentations, 30 guest lectures, and 40 professional trainings. He serves as editor of the stormwater newsletter UPDATES and is a Fellow at the Institute on the Environment.
