معرفی
Professor Andy Brown serves as Professor of Materials Characterisation at the School of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Leeds, within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. His expertise centers on nanoparticle systems and analytical electron microscopy methodologies.
Education:
- PhD in Geophysics (specializing in fine particle magnetism)
- Undergraduate degree in Physics
His research pioneers technique development for nanoparticle characterization, focusing on sample preparation, imaging, and elemental analysis of engineered nanomaterials in environmental applications like water contamination and remediation. This work bridges materials science with practical environmental solutions through advanced microscopy.
Scientific recognition includes:
- EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship
- Fellowship of the Royal Microscopical Society
Professor Brown teaches Materials Science to undergraduate Chemical Engineering students and Reverse Engineering of Complex Particulate Products to advanced/postgraduate cohorts. He currently supervises PhD researcher Meera Rhiannon Davidson and actively recruits new doctoral candidates through university research opportunities. His affiliations span the Complex Systems and Processes, Functional Materials, and Industrial Biotechnology and Bio-waste research groups.
