André Tremblay is a Professor in the Department of Sociological and Anthropological Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ottawa. He also serves as Director of the department and is affiliated with the Canadian Association of Sociologists and Anthropologists of the French Language (Vice-President).
- Education: Ph.D. in Sociology (Université Laval, 1994), M.A. in Sociology (Université Laval, 1983), B.A. in Education with Orientation Focus (Université Laval, 1979), Classical Studies (Externat classique Saint-Jean Eudes, 1975).
His research spans multiple domains, including the sociology of health, higher education, and socio-economic organizations. He explores social and cultural capital, social networks, mental health and addiction through a sociological lens, and the sociology of technological change. Additional interests include suicide, deviant behaviors, and power dynamics in organizational contexts.
He supervises graduate students such as Orlando Ceide and Evenold SENAT, focusing on interdisciplinary topics like the information economy and contemporary sociological theories. His administrative role as Vice-President in the Canadian Association of Sociologists and Anthropologists of the French Language highlights his contributions to Francophone academic networks.
