André Jansson is a Professor in Media and Communication Studies at Karlstad University, Sweden, since 2007. He has held previous academic roles including Associate Professor (2006-2007) and Assistant Professor (2002-2006) at Karlstad and Malmö Universities. Elected as an Ordinary Member of the Academy of Europe in 2020, his work bridges media studies, social phenomenology, human geography, and sociology of culture.

Jansson’s research examines how mediatization processes shape social space, focusing on urban-rural divides, surveillance culture, post-industrial cities, and expatriate lifestyles. His theoretical framework integrates media studies with spatial analysis and cultural sociology.
