André Gomes

André Gomes serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science within Rowan University's College of Science & Mathematics. He joined Rowan University in September 2024 after completing his Ph.D. at Virginia Tech and a postdoctoral position with the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative.

Gomes specializes in wireless network reliability, resilience, and security. His research develops networks capable of maintaining performance under extreme conditions including failures, attacks, and disasters. Key methodologies include ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC), reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), Open RAN, stochastic geometry, and applied machine learning. He collaborates with major industry initiatives including the NextG Alliance, 6G Flagship at the University of Oulu, and AT&T Research Labs.

His recent publications demonstrate strong focus on adversarial RIS attacks, virtualized RAN reliability, and spectrum optimization for ultra-reliable networks. Research trends show increasing emphasis on physical-layer security threats and mathematical modeling of network resilience under stochastic conditions.
